Inspired by a lot of recent conversation in a Discord server, I feel it's time to compile all the best medical AU fics into one place. Hit us with all your recs that have one or both of our boys working in a medical setting. Whether a country doctor or a hospital surgeon, anything goes!

Just for something a little bit different, here's a fun AU where Cas is a phlebotomist and Dean is donating blood: Apheresis. It's very sweet and I am always a sucker for Dadstiel.

I also just read this brand-new fic called muscle ache that is incredibly good at conveying a great deal of emotion and intimacy in a very short fic, with some really lovely bits of prose.

Definitely seconding the rec for muscle ache. It was wonderful.

Also, repeating my rec of What I Need from last week - absolutely incredible fic featuring surgeon Cas and surg tech Dean. It's such a beautifully lowkey fic about two characters getting to know each other, plus the medical setting is so well done.

Here's one where I didn't even remember Dean being a nurse, but according to the tags, he is. Either way, it's delightful - Cas is a voice actor for children's books and gets roped into a surprise appearance at Dean's niece's birthday party post-one night stand. The Pleasure Trip

The undisputed modern champion of medical AUs though has to be Salamitsunami1, who has written not one but three incredible medical AUs (one of them is a timestamp for another, but I'm still counting it.)

I also remember having lots of fun with You Held It In Your Hands, which leans into Dr. Sexy type medical melodrama. Not the fic to read if you are in this for high levels of medical accuracy, but definitely outrageous soapy fun.
